What is yoga?

The classic yoga is called ashtanga-yoga or eight-folded yoga system. It includes such stages as yama, niyama, asana, pranayama, pratyahara, dharana, dhyana and Samadhi. We’ll cover all these things later. What yoga does is the connection of a living being (usually in a human form of body) with the Ultimate Source of the Creation, who is commonly referred as God. Yoga is not a belief, though the belief itself is an integral part of it. Yoga is a scientific system that influences all parts of our body, mind and life if we practice it seriously.

Is yoga safe? Yes, it is, but you need to practice it properly – better under the guidance of the real master, guru. Yes, you can learn yoga from books of videos, but it takes more time, attention and care from your side. But it is not impossible.

What yoga offers is actually natural; proper asana or posture, proper breathing and peaceful mind through meditation – all these things are natural and create harmony in life if they present.

Yoga is a wonderful, never ending journey, and it is never too late to start…
