Yoga Sequences for Beginners

Here you will find the yoga sequences for beginners sorted into the difficulty levels. I’m not going to stretch it too far to cover the advanced routines right now (maybe later). Also the poses shown here are directed at development of the core body muscles, full body stretching and general health improvement. Later I’ll probably include yoga postures according to Ayurvedic body types (Vata, Pitta, Kapha), since it definitely increases the efficiency of one’s personal practice, and brings the body and mind to a balance.

The Basic Yoga Routine for Beginners

  • Surya Namaskar
  • Shavasana
  • Padahastasana
  • Utthita Trikonasana
  • Shavasana
  • Paschimottanasana
  • Bhujangasana
  • Ardha Shalabhasana
  • Balasana
  • Vakrasana
  • Navasana
  • Viparita Karani Mudra with support
  • Shavasana

This whole sequence will take around 40-60 minutes to complete. I understand that some or all poses my be difficult in the very beginning, but you shouldn’t force yourself to do them fully; the idea is to do as much as you can but without too much tension and once you achieve your final point – try to relax. After remaining in a pose for some amount of time, return to the starting position and go to the next pose.

I will be gradually adding the detailed descriptions of the poses, so they will be turning into links following which you will find the pose technique and tips.
